Subhaddra Rice Mill

Down on R.D Road in Rangiya, that’s where you’ll find Subhaddra Rice Mill. It’s a busy road, and we get a lot of traffic passing by throughout the day. The building itself is quite old, with some patches on the roof that we’ve had to fix over the years. When it rains, which happens a lot around here, you can really hear it drumming on the tin. We spend our time checking the moisture in the grain and making sure the machines aren't acting up. It’s a small team of us, and we’ve worked together for so long we don’t even have to talk much to get things done. We know the rhythm of the mill. Sometimes the power goes out, and we all just sit outside on the steps and wait for it to come back on. Those are the times we get to catch up on the local gossip. We don't have a website or anything like that. If people want to find us, they just come down to R.D Road. We handle a lot of the rice that feeds the families right here in Rangiya. It’s a steady kind of life. Nothing too exciting happens, but we like it that way. We keep the floor swept as best we can, but it’s a losing battle with all the husks flying around. It’s just a normal day's work for us.
