Mothola Tea Company

The office for Mothola Tea Company is right on Man Cotta Road, which is a place that feels like the heart of the local tea world. If you walk outside, you can almost feel the history of the estates that stretch out around the edges of the town. We don’t go in for anything too modern or high-tech around here. The building is simple and serves its purpose. Most of our day involves keeping track of the leaf counts and making sure the transport is lined up. It gets incredibly humid in the summer, and the fans in the office never seem to spin fast enough to keep us cool. We usually have the windows open to catch a breeze, even if it brings in the dust from the road. People stop by quite often just to chat or check on how the season is looking. It’s a very local way of doing things. We don’t have a big marketing department or anyone to write fancy letters for us. It’s just us, working on Man Cotta Road, trying to keep the business steady. When the harvest is in full swing, it gets a bit frantic, but we manage to get through it every year. We take things as they come. If a machine breaks, we fix it. If the rain delays a truck, we wait. That’s the reality of working in the tea business. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy.
