Herlal Arcade

If you look for Bye Lane 1 in Gandhi Basti, you will see our place at H. No. 2. It’s a bit of a tight turn if you are driving a bigger car, but most people manage just fine. Herlal Arcade is not a massive mall or anything like that. It is more of a local building where we try to keep things running smoothly day to day. We have been in this part of town for a good bit of time and have seen the neighborhood change quite a bit around us. Some mornings are slow and we just sit with a cup of tea before the first person walks in. Other days, the phone won’t stop ringing and everyone is asking for something at the same time. We don't have a big corporate office or anything. It's just a couple of rooms where we keep our records and handle whatever comes up. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we haven't gotten around to it yet because there is always something else to fix first. We know the neighbors and the shopkeepers nearby, so it feels like a small community even when things get hectic. Most of our work is just staying on top of the small details and making sure the building stays in decent shape for everyone who uses it. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do here in Gandhi Basti.
