The Andhra Sugars Ltd is located right here in Saggonda, which is a quiet spot until the factory gets moving. V. Raghunath Prasad is one of the junior engineers on the team and he’s usually busy looking after things around the site. Most days start early because the sun gets pretty hot out here in the 534 318 area. We spend a lot of time walking between the different buildings and checking on the machinery. There is always a lot of dust and the smell of the works, which everyone gets used to after a week or so. It is not a fancy place by any means. It’s mostly just people in work clothes trying to make sure everything stays running. The office is a bit crowded with papers and spare parts on the desks. Sometimes the fans don’t move the air enough when it’s peak summer, but we manage. People come in from the nearby villages and the roads can get a bit bumpy if it’s been raining lately. We don’t have any big signs or flashy lights out front. It’s just the facility and the gates. Most of the guys here have been working together for a long time, so we all know who does what. The junior engineer’s office is usually where you find someone if there is a problem with the technical side. It is just a regular workplace doing its thing every day without making too much noise about it.
