Dhanalakshmi Food Products

Dhanalakshmi Food Products is located at 69-8-27 in Tyagaraja Nagar. We are right on the Godavari Bund Road, so we get to see the river every single day when we come into work. The breeze from the water is nice, but it also makes the air a bit damp sometimes. We focus on making different food items, mostly things that people use in their kitchens every day. The building is a bright shade of yellow, though the sun has faded it over the years. Inside, it’s mostly just open space for processing and a small area where we keep the finished goods. Tyagaraja Nagar is a good spot to be, even if the traffic on Bund Road gets a bit crazy during the festival seasons. My uncle started this place, and I took over the daily running of it about five years ago. We have a couple of heavy machines that make a lot of racket, so we usually have to keep the windows open. It’s a lot of manual labor, lifting sacks and checking the weight of the packages. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that. If someone knocks on the door, one of us just goes and sees what they need. It’s a very basic way of doing things, but it works for us. We often have tea together on the small porch during our mid-morning break and watch the boats go by.
