Shiv Shankar Senior School

This school sits right on Jakholi Road in Village Kasan. It’s a bit of a distance from the main Kaithal town, but for the people living here in Kassan, it’s in a good spot. Shiv Shankar Senior School is where the older kids from the surrounding villages come to finish their senior secondary studies. The building is a solid brick structure that looks out over the open green fields. We have high schoolers mostly, so the atmosphere is a bit more serious than a primary school, but it still gets plenty noisy during the lunch break. The road outside can get very muddy when the monsoon rains come, so the students often show up with their shoes covered in dirt. We have a small office where all the student records are kept in those big, old-fashioned paper files. There’s no fancy digital database here, just a lot of hard work and physical books. The classrooms have these heavy wooden benches that have been around for many years. It’s a standard setup, very much like a government school, even though it’s our own place. Teachers often live nearby or travel in from Kaithal every day. We have a playground that’s really just a flat piece of ground where the boys play kabaddi or cricket after the classes are over. It’s a place that serves the local farming community well. People here really value a good education for their kids, and we provide that without any extra frills.
