Bharat Marbles

We have our shop, Bharat Marbles, right in the Main Market area of Chika. Being on Patiala Road means it is always noisy with the sounds of horns and people walking by. It is a busy part of town. We’ve been here for quite some time, squeezed in among all the other businesses in the market. Every morning starts with us opening the shutters and dragging some of the smaller samples out front so people can see them. The space inside is a bit tight because marble takes up so much room, but we manage to fit everything in. It gets crowded on market days, especially when the tractors and trailers are trying to get through the narrow parts of the road. We spend a lot of time talking to the neighbors and the local contractors who come in for their projects. It is a very hands-on job. My clothes are usually covered in white dust by noon. We don't have any big corporate goals or anything. We just sell the stone and try to keep the stacks from falling over. Sometimes the rain makes the yard a bit messy, but that's just part of being in Chika. If you walk down Patiala Road, you can't really miss us. We are just a local business doing the same thing every day, year after year, in the middle of the market.
