S.S. Arts is tucked away on the first floor at A-257 in Shastri Nagar. It’s a quiet enough spot compared to the main roads, which is nice for when we are trying to focus on a design. The stairs up to the first floor are a bit narrow, so moving bigger frames or canvases can be a bit of a chore. We’ve got desks pushed up against the walls and plenty of light coming through the windows. It’s not a huge studio, but it’s ours. We spend a lot of time just drawing out ideas or checking the colors on different prints. Sometimes the floor is covered in scraps of paper and old sketches that didn't quite work out. That’s just part of the process for us. We don’t have a receptionist or anything like that. If someone comes by, one of us just gets up from what we’re doing to say hello. Most of our work comes from people in the neighborhood or folks who heard about us from a friend. We’ve been in Shastri Nagar for a bit now and we like the pace here. It’s a bit slower than the city center. We keep the kettle going most of the afternoon. It’s just a small group of us making things we think look good. There’s no big secret to how we run things, we just show up and do the work every day. We have an old sofa in the corner where we sit for tea, and it’s seen better days, but it’s comfortable enough.
