Marwar Dairy

This dairy is tucked away in Pnb Lane, right near the Madhuban Colony sabji mandi. It’s a busy little corner of Jodhpur. Being near the vegetable market means we get the early crowd. People come in to get their milk and curd right after they finish buying their greens for the day. The shop stays quite cool because of the milk chillers and the stone floor. I spend the first few hours of the morning hauling crates and making sure the packets are arranged by date. It’s a lot of lifting, and the plastic crates can be quite heavy when they are full. We also keep some basic grocery items like bread and eggs. The walls are tiled in white so it’s easier to wash them down at the end of the shift. Milk can be messy if a packet leaks, so you have to be quick with the water. The shop isn't very large, so there’s often a bit of a squeeze when the morning rush hits. I know most of the ladies from the colony who come by; they usually have a bit of a chat while they wait for their change. The fridge has a constant hum that you eventually stop hearing. It’s a simple job, really. Just keeping the dairy fresh and making sure the customers aren't waiting too long. We don't do anything fancy, just standard daily business. It’s enough to keep us on our feet all day.
