Madhav Ice Cream

Our shop is tucked away in Village Osian, right at the post office area. If you are walking towards the Sachthiyay Mata Mandir or spending time near the Jain Mandir, you’ll probably see us. It’s a dusty part of the world, and the sun really beats down on the stone streets here. We aren’t a big corporate chain or anything like that. It’s just a local place where we keep the freezers running all day and night. My family helps out, especially when the pilgrims come through in large groups. The morning starts with me checking the temperature of the units because if the power fluctuates, we have to stay on top of it. We don't have a fancy menu with hundreds of options. We just keep what people like. Usually, it's the basic flavors that sell the most when it's forty degrees outside. The floor is made of simple stone, and I spend a lot of time sweeping out the sand that blows in from the road. There are a few old wooden chairs for people to sit on while they eat. They aren't the best, but they give your legs a rest. We don't do any big advertising. People just find us because they are hot and thirsty. It’s a simple way to make a living, serving the people who visit our village and the locals who live here year-round. It gets loud when the bells ring at the mandir, but we like the atmosphere. Sometimes we run out of cones and use cups instead. We stay open until the last temple visitor leaves.
