Our place, Ashwani Traders, is at 615 on 11th A Pal Road. It’s a bit further down from the main junction, so it’s slightly quieter, but not by much. We’ve got a decent amount of space here, though most of it is taken up by crates and boxes. We sell a bit of everything that people in the neighborhood might need for their houses or small projects. It’s mostly me and one other guy running the place. We start the day by sweeping the front step and checking the mail. The shelves are a bit disorganized, but we know where everything is. If someone asks for a specific part, we can usually walk straight to it, even if it’s buried under something else. We don’t use any fancy computers for our sales, just a handwritten book and a calculator that’s missing a couple of buttons. It works for us. Sometimes we sit out front when business is slow and watch the people going by. We’ve seen the neighborhood change over the years, but our shop stays pretty much the same. We don’t have any big signs or bright lights. Just a small board with the name on it. It’s a simple life, running a trade shop. We don’t overthink it. We just provide what’s asked for and try to be fair about it. Every evening we lock the door and head home, ready to do it again tomorrow. It is just how things go.
