Jeevika Samruddhi Mahila Producer Company Limited

Our group is located right at Boxi Chowk in H.Katapali, which is a busy little part of Jharsuguda. We work out of Jugal Kishor Patel’s place, and it’s a spot that most people in the neighborhood can point you to if you get lost. Since we are a Mahila Producer Company, it’s mostly the local women from around the Jharsuguda area who are involved in everything we do. We started this because we needed a way to manage our own products and get a fair deal for the work we do in the fields and at home. It gets quite loud and busy at the chowk, with all the traffic passing by, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We spend our mornings checking on the stock and our afternoons dealing with the accounts and talking to the members about what they need for the next season. It’s not a polished operation with fancy computers or anything; we mostly use old registers and talk face-to-face. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside and keep working. Our main focus is just keeping the Jeevika Samruddhi name going so that the women here have some steady work and a place to gather. It’s practical, everyday stuff that keeps us busy from morning till night. We don't do much marketing, we just let the work speak for itself in the local market.
