Shree Shiv-Shivay Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited

Our group is based at the Samuday Bhawan Aajivika Office on Narela Road in Bamniya. We are a women’s farmer producer company, which means it is mostly the ladies from the village running the show here. We started this because we wanted to have more of a say in how our crops are sold and how the money is handled. It is a busy place, especially in the afternoons when everyone finishes their chores and comes by to talk. We do not have any fancy office furniture, just what was already at the community building. It is a lot of work balancing the farm, the house, and this company. We help each other with the paperwork and learning how to keep the books properly. Sometimes the kids are running around while we are trying to have a meeting. It is a bit noisy, but we get things done. We deal with the local crops grown around Bamniya. We do not use any of those big marketing words. We just talk about what we need for the fields and how to get a decent price at the market. It feels good to be working together like this. Most of us have known each other since we were small. We just take it one day at a time and try to learn as we go. It is practical, hard work, but we like doing it ourselves and being our own bosses.
