We are the Jobat Mahila Kisan Farmer Producer Company Limited. Our office is right on Alirajpur Road, across from the TV showroom. Suresh Chandra Dubey’s place is where we are set up. Jobat is a small place and everyone kind of knows everyone else. We started this to help the women farmers in our area get a better handle on their business. Farming is hard work, and doing the business side of it is even harder sometimes when you are alone. We spend a lot of time discussing prices and where to sell the crops. It’s not a fancy life. We have a lot of meetings where we just sit on chairs and talk for hours about things like grain quality and transport. The address is 457990 for those who need it. Being near the TV showroom makes us easy to spot for anyone coming into town. We have people coming in and out all day with different questions. Sometimes we have the answers, sometimes we have to look them up. It’s a learning process for all of us here. We don’t have big budgets for advertising or anything like that. We just rely on word of mouth and the people we know in the community. It’s a very local thing and that is how we like it. We are proud of what we do, even if it’s just small-scale for now. Every bit helps when you are trying to make a living from the earth in Alirajpur.
