Sterlite Industries, Unit-Balco

We are located in Balco Nagar, specifically at Quarter Number 315. It is a Type C house in Sector-1, which is a very familiar kind of place for anyone who has lived in a company town like Korba. Working out of a quarter means the line between work and home is a bit thin sometimes. The neighborhood is full of other people who work for the plant, so you’re always seeing colleagues when you’re out buying groceries or just walking down the street. It’s a very grounded environment. We handle the Balco unit stuff from here, so there are always ledgers and equipment lists scattered around the main room. It isn't a polished corporate office by any means. It’s a place where we drink a lot of tea and talk through the daily production numbers. The walls are a standard off-white and the furniture is the kind that has been around for a decade or more. Outside, you can sometimes hear the distant hum of the industrial units, reminding us of why we are here. Living in Korba is about the industry, and our little office in Sector-1 is just one small part of that big machine. We don't try to make it look like something it’s not. It’s just where the work happens, where the schedules are made, and where we manage the day-to-day needs of the unit without any extra fluff or fancy decorations. It’s just our daily life.
