Orhanpur Farmer Producer Company Limited is found in the Nardiganj area of Nawada. Our contact is Amit Kumar in the village and Tola of Oraina. Oraina is a quiet place and life moves at its own pace here. We are the Orhanpur group, named after the local area. Farming in Nawada is not always easy because water can be scarce during the summer months. We started this company so we could help each other out with things like buying seeds in bulk and sharing the cost of getting the harvest to the town. We meet under the trees or at Amit’s house to talk about the latest weather reports. We are not a polished organization with a fancy website. We are just people with dirt under our fingernails who know the value of a good harvest. Our English is not perfect and our office is just a simple room with a few chairs and a table. We handle the paperwork for the government and try to make sure everyone in the Tola gets what they need. It is a very basic operation. We do not promise anything huge, we just try to get through each season without too many problems. It is about the community in Oraina coming together to survive and maybe do a little bit better than we did the year before.
