Shiv Bricks

Out here in Aaesu Village, things move at a different pace. We are based in the Chaibasa Taluka area of Jamshedpur district, which is mostly quiet until the trucks start moving. Shiv Bricks is basically just a local operation where we spend most of our time out in the sun or under a small shed. There’s always dust around because of the nature of the work, but that is just part of it. We have some local guys who help out and we’ve known most of them for years. It’s not a big corporate setup with fancy desks. We usually just have a plastic table and some chairs where we sit to figure out the day's schedule. Some days the weather makes it hard to get anything done, especially when it rains heavy and the ground gets soft. We just wait it out. People from the nearby villages come by when they are building something small, and we talk to them directly. It’s simple work, really. You make the bricks, you dry them, and you sell them. There’s no big secret to it. We just try to keep the stacks neat and make sure the orders are ready when someone brings a tractor by. Living and working in the same district means you see the same faces all the time. It feels okay working this way without all the extra stress.
