Das Tent

Das Tent is based out of the Utkal Association in Sakchi. If you spend any time in Sakchi, you know it’s one of the busiest parts of the city. We’ve been operating from this spot for a long time, dealing with all sorts of events and gatherings. It’s hard work, moving heavy poles and bundles of fabric around in the heat. We don't have a fancy office; it’s more of a functional space where we keep our gear and plan out the next day’s work. The Utkal Association is a well-known spot, so it makes things easier for people to find us. Our days usually start early, loading up trucks and making sure we haven't forgotten the ropes or the stakes. It’s a physical job and our hands are usually calloused and dirty by the end of it. We don't do much talking about how we work; we just show up and put the tents up. If it rains, things get muddy and difficult, but we just get on with it. Sakchi is a loud and crowded place, and we are right in the middle of it. We’ve seen all kinds of celebrations and functions over the years. It’s not glamorous, but there is a certain satisfaction in seeing a big structure come together from just some pipes and cloth.
