Kashmir Handlooms

We are located at 54-b Last Morh in the Gandhi Nagar area. Most folks find us because they know the neighborhood well. It’s a bit of a trek to get out here sometimes with the traffic, but we’ve been at this spot for quite a while now. The building is older and we have a lot of heavy rugs piled up in the corners. Kashmir Handlooms is mostly a place where you’ll find a lot of embroidery work. We have guys who bring us shawls and scarves that they’ve worked on for weeks. I spend most of my time checking the patterns or talking to the people who wander in. It isn't a very big shop, so it gets crowded fast if more than three people are inside at once. We have those old metal shutters that make a lot of noise when we open up in the morning. My father used to handle the customers but now I do most of it. We keep a ledger for everything by hand. The lights inside are a bit dim, which makes it hard to see the fine details sometimes, so we often take the fabric out to the doorway to show the true color in the sunlight. Gandhi Nagar is a nice place to work, even if the road gets muddy when it rains. We don't bother with fancy decorations. We just sell what we have on the shelves and hope people like the work.
