Gupta Cement Store

We are over at Plot No. 259A in Rehari Colony. If you know the area, it’s pretty straightforward to find. The store is basically a big warehouse space filled with stacks of cement bags. It’s heavy work, moving those bags around every day. We start early because the trucks usually arrive before the heat gets too bad. You get used to the smell of dry cement and the grey dust that seems to get on every surface, including your clothes. We don't have a lot of bells and whistles here. It’s just a counter, some ledger books, and the inventory. Most of our customers are locals from Rehari Colony who are fixing up their houses or building a new room. We spend a lot of time talking to the drivers and the loaders. Sometimes the weather makes things difficult—rain is the biggest enemy when you’re storing cement. We have to make sure everything stays dry. It’s a basic business, nothing fancy about it. We’ve been at this plot for a while, and the neighbors know us well. We don’t try to be anything we aren’t. We just provide the materials people need to get their construction finished. It’s a lot of lifting and counting, but it’s honest work that keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down. Most people just drive up, load what they need, and head back to their work sites.
