Kalimpong Park Hotel

Up here on Rinkingpong Road, things move a bit slower than down in the plains. We’ve been running the Kalimpong Park Hotel for quite some time now. It’s an old building, so it has its quirks, like floors that creak a bit or windows that need a firm hand to close. But that’s just the character of the place. We don’t try to make it look like one of those modern glass hotels you see in the big cities. People come here because it feels like a home, not a lobby. The weather in Kalimpong is usually nice, so we spend a lot of time making sure the outside areas are kept up. It’s a lot of work maintaining a property like this on a hill. Sometimes the fog rolls in so thick you can’t see the road, and everything gets a bit damp. We just keep the fires going and make sure there’s tea. Our staff has been with us for years, and they know the area well. If you ask them where to walk, they’ll tell you the best paths that aren't on the maps. We aren't part of any big group or chain. It’s just us. We deal with the daily issues as they come, like plumbing fixes or painting walls when the monsoon ends. It’s a quiet life mostly. We just want people to have a decent place to stay while they're visiting our town and exploring the hills around here without any trouble.
