Self Study Group

We’ve got our setup in Jyoti Nagar, over by Johal Market in Jalandhar. It’s a quiet enough area compared to the main road. Self Study Group is basically just a quiet space for people to come and get their work done. We have rows of tables and some chairs that aren't the most comfortable, but they do the job. A lot of students come here because it’s hard to focus at home with the family and the TV. We don’t really teach classes; we just provide the room and the peace. We keep a few registers to track who comes in and out. The lighting is okay, though we had to replace a few bulbs last week. It’s a very simple operation. We open the doors in the morning and lock up at night. Sometimes we have to tell people to lower their voices if they get too chatty. There isn't any fancy decor on the walls, just a clock and maybe a calendar. We’ve been here in Jalandhar for a while, and most of the kids from the nearby streets know where we are. It’s a bit of a walk from the main bus stand, but it’s worth it for the quiet. We’re just regular people providing a spot for others to sit and read. No bells or whistles, just a room with some tables and chairs. We keep the place clean as much as we can and make sure everyone has enough space to spread out their books.
