Bhagwati Rice & General Mill

You can find Bhagwati Rice & General Mill on Alladadpur Road. It’s a plain building, nothing special to look at, but it serves its purpose. We do rice and a few other general things here, hence the name. The road can get quite busy with tractor-trolleys during the harvest, and the yard gets full of grain very quickly. We have a few old machines that have been with us since we started. They require a lot of grease and attention, but they still work fine. We don't use any high-tech systems or fancy computers to manage things. We mostly just use ledgers and our own memory. It’s a bit old-fashioned, but it works for us. The workers here are like family. We eat our lunch together in the shade of the main shed when the sun is too hot. We don't have a mission statement or anything like that. We just try to finish the day's work and go home to our families. Some days are harder than others, especially when the humidity is high and the grain is sticky. But we just keep at it. Alladadpur Road isn't the busiest place, but for us, it’s home. We’ve seen other businesses come and go, but the mill stays put. It’s just a practical way to make a living and support the local farming community around this area. We don't need anything more than that to be happy with what we do. It’s just work.
