S M Public School is located out on Nh-68 in the Dabla area of Jaisalmer, 345001. It’s a bit of a drive from the main city center, so it feels quite open out here. The wind blows a lot of sand across the yard, which is just part of living in this part of Rajasthan. We have a solid fence around the property to keep things secure. The building itself is a single-story structure mostly, and the rooms stay surprisingly cool even when the sun is hitting the roof. Most of our students come from the surrounding villages. You’ll see the school buses lined up near the entrance every morning and afternoon. The teachers usually gather in the staff room for tea during the short break. It’s a quiet environment for the most part, except when the kids are outside playing during their lunch hour. We have a small garden area that we try to keep green, but it’s a struggle with the dry weather. The office has a wooden desk and a lot of filing cabinets where we keep all the records on paper. Everything is very straightforward here. We don’t go for anything too elaborate. The classrooms have the basic stuff—desks, a board, and some cupboards for books. It’s a place where work gets done without much fuss. If you are driving on the highway, you can’t miss the sign by the side of the road. It has been standing there for quite a long time.
