Arush Footwear And Season Shop is right in the heart of the Main Market in Watika, which is part of the Sanganer tehsil. It is a busy little shop and we have to make the most of the small space we have available. We mostly sell shoes and slippers for everyday use. But because we are a season shop, we change what we sell depending on the time of year and the local festivals. For example, when the monsoon starts, we clear some space for umbrellas and plastic raincoats. During the winter, we might bring in some warm socks or simple sweaters for the local people. It is a lot of moving boxes around and keeping track of stock. My family helps me run the place throughout the week. We do not have a computerized billing system or anything fancy like that. We just write everything down in a thick ledger book at the end of the day. The shop gets very crowded on market days when people come in from all the nearby villages. It is loud and dusty outside, but we enjoy the daily bustle of the market. We have been here long enough that we know exactly what our customers like. We do not do any big sales or flashy promotions. People just know that if they need something basic for the house or for their feet, they can find it here at a fair price.
