Sikar Road is always moving. If you stand outside the shop at 15 Teen Dukan, you can see trucks and cars going by all day long. Our place is called Vinod Fancy and we mostly handle small things like hair clips, bangles, and gift sets for weddings. It’s a narrow shop but goes back pretty deep. We put the bright gift paper near the entrance to catch the light. Most days it’s just me and a young lad who helps with the lifting. We have these glass cases that we spend too much time cleaning. Fingerprints are everywhere because people like to touch the shiny stuff. It’s okay though. We don’t mind. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit on the stools and talk to the neighbors. The Teen Dukan area is quite old and everyone knows everyone. We get a lot of ladies from the nearby colonies looking for matching thread or a quick birthday present. I usually have the radio playing some old songs in the background. It helps pass the time when it's quiet in the mid-afternoon. We don’t really do any big ads. People just walk in. The sign outside is a bit faded from the sun but you can still read it fine. It's a decent way to spend the day. Sometimes the tea man from down the street forgets my order, but he eventually shows up with a hot glass and we talk about the news.
