Vikas Fancy Store

Vikas Fancy Store is over on Niwaru Road in the Jhotwara area, right near the landmark known as Netaji Ki Chakki. Most people in the neighborhood use the flour mill as a way to find us. We have a good selection of fancy items, things like bangles, hair clips, and cosmetics that women usually look for. The shop has a big glass front so people can see what we have as they walk by on the sidewalk. Jhotwara has grown so much lately, and Niwaru Road is always packed with bikes and cars now. Inside, we have mirrors along the walls and some bright lights to show off the jewelry pieces. I try to keep the glass clean, but with the dust from the road, it’s a constant battle every day. I usually work by myself most of the day, so I have to be careful when I'm reorganizing the back shelves so things don't fall. It’s a small business, and I’ve learned exactly what the local ladies like over the years. We don’t have a website or any of those modern things; we just talk to the people who walk in. If someone is looking for a specific shade of bindi or a certain type of earring, I usually know exactly which box it’s in. It’s a modest place, and I take some pride in knowing my stock well enough to help out quickly and correctly.
