Time Square

Running a place like Time Square here in Kanwar Nagar New Colony keeps us pretty busy from morning until late evening. We’re right on 5 Batti Main Road, so there is never really a quiet moment with all the cars and people moving toward the intersection. The shop stays fairly cool despite the sun hitting the front for most of the day. We’ve got clocks on the walls and plenty of other things tucked into the glass cases that need dusting way more often than I’d like. Sometimes the traffic outside gets so loud you have to speak up just so the person across the counter can hear what you’re saying. It’s a small space, but we’ve managed to fit a lot into it over the years. Most of the day is spent just sitting behind the counter or tinkering with something that’s stopped working. People come in from the main road looking for something specific or just to get a battery changed while they wait. It’s funny how you get to know the rhythm of the street just by watching through the glass. The evening is usually the hardest part because everyone is heading home and the noise peaks. We just keep the lights on and wait for the rush to die down before locking up for the night. It’s a simple life here near 5 Batti, nothing too complicated. It's not fancy, but it gets the job done and we like being part of the noise.
