Tambi General & Lining Store

You can find Tambi General & Lining Store over at A 95 Kanti Nagar, right along the Station Road. Being so close to the station means there is always a lot of noise from the trains and the people rushing to catch them. The shop is mostly filled with rolls of lining cloth and all the small things you need for tailoring, like buttons and zippers. We have been in this spot for years, and the walls probably need a new coat of paint, but we haven't gotten around to it yet. It’s a narrow space, so we have to stack the fabric rolls quite high. I have to use a wooden ladder to reach the ones at the top, which can be a bit of a workout during a busy day. Station Road is never quiet, not even late at night. We get a mix of regulars who have been coming to us for decades and travelers who just realized they lost a button or need a bit of thread. I usually sit near the entrance where the light is better for checking the colors of the fabric. Sometimes the matching takes a long time because the shades are so close. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights, just the usual shelves and a few benches for people to sit on while they wait. My family has looked after this place for a long time.
