Singhal Traders

Singhal Traders is situated at Shop No 36-37 on Karni Palace Road in the Panchyawala area of Jaipur. We’re quite close to Karni Palace itself. Being a trader, we sometimes deal in slightly larger amounts than a tiny corner shop, but we still have plenty of regular folks coming in for small things. Jaipur can be quite dusty, so we’re always wiping down the counters. The road outside can get very busy when there’s an event at the palace, which brings in a lot of strangers. Most of the time, though, it’s just the same people from the Panchyawala neighborhood. We’ve got two shop spaces joined together to hold all the grain sacks and household goods. It’s a bit of a maze inside if you don’t know where things are kept. We don't have any fancy air conditioning, just a couple of old ceiling fans that hum all day. The work is mostly manual, moving things from the back to the front and dealing with the delivery drivers. We aren't trying to be the biggest store in Jaipur; we just want to keep things running smoothly here on Karni Palace Road. It’s a practical way to spend the day, and we’re used to the rhythm of the market by now. We close up once the street starts to quiet down in the evening. It’s just us doing the daily work, making sure people get their bags of flour without too much fuss.
