Shankerlal Subhash Chand

We are over at C5 in the New Grain Mandi. It’s right in the middle of the busy Chandpole Bazar area. If you’ve ever walked through the mandi, you know how loud and crowded it gets with all the trucks and people moving sacks around every morning. Shankerlal Subhash Chand has been sitting here for a long time now. We usually start our day pretty early when the gates open. It’s dusty and there’s always something happening right outside our door. Sometimes it feels like the whole city's food supply passes through this one spot. We spend most of our time keeping track of stuff and talking to the people who come by from all over the district. The building isn't fancy or anything, just a practical space where we can do our work. People know us by the name on the board, but we mostly just know each other by face. It’s a lot of manual work and long hours, especially during the harvest seasons when things get really hectic. We don't have a big office with air conditioning or anything like that. Just some chairs, a desk, and plenty of activity. The sun hits the front of the shop in the afternoon, so it gets a bit warm, but that’s just how it is in the market. We've seen many changes in the bazar over the years, yet the way we do things stays mostly the same. Just basic business.
