Our shop is tucked away at D 10 in the Chandpole Anaz Mandi, right in the middle of all the noise and dust of the grain market. If you know Chandpole Bazar, you know how it gets during the peak season when the trucks start rolling in. It is mostly just me and a few others sitting here among the stacks of ledgers and the smell of raw grain. Shanker Broker Agency has been in this spot for quite a while now. We don't have a fancy office with air conditioning or anything like that. It’s just a basic room with some benches and a ceiling fan that works when it wants to. Every morning starts with a glass of tea from the stall around the corner while we wait for the first loads to arrive. We spend the whole day talking to people, checking the quality of what’s in the bags, and trying to keep everything organized on paper. It gets pretty loud with the shouting and the carts moving back and forth outside the door. Sometimes the dust gets so thick you can taste it, but that is just how the mandi is. We just focus on the daily work, making sure the numbers match up and the grain goes where it is supposed to go. It is not a complicated life, just a lot of long hours and repeating the same tasks day after day until the sun goes down and the market finally gets quiet.
