Our place is right in the heart of Chandpole Bazar in the New Anaj Mandi area at B-14. It is always busy here with the sound of tractors and people shouting prices for grain. We spend most of our mornings handling paperwork and talking to the traders who come through. It’s a dusty environment, and my desk usually has a layer of it by noon, no matter how much we clean. We have been at this spot for quite a long time now. We know almost everyone in the market by their first name. It is not a fancy office with big glass windows. It is just a practical space with some old wooden chairs and a lot of ledgers. The tea guy comes around at ten every morning, and that is usually the best part of the start of the day. We deal with the grain sales and make sure the receipts are correct for the buyers and sellers. Sometimes the trucks are delayed and we have to stay late to finish up. That is just how life is in the Anaj Mandi. We don’t have a website or any marketing stuff. People just know where B-14 is and they walk in when they need us. We have a wooden counter that has many scratches from years of use. It shows how much work has happened here. We just keep our heads down and get through the pile of work every day. It’s honest and it keeps us going.
