You wouldn't think a software company would be right in the middle of Johari Bazar, but that’s where we are at number 267. It’s a bit of a strange mix, having programmers working away while just outside the door people are buying jewelry and sarees. The bazar is always crowded, and the noise from the street never really stops, even late into the afternoon. We’re usually tucked away inside with our monitors, trying to block out the sounds of the horns and the shouting. It’s a tight space, typical for these old bazar buildings, but we make it work. Sometimes we go out for a chai at the stall around the corner just to get a break from the screen. We write code and handle software projects for various clients, mostly local businesses that need something specific built. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that; we just get our work through word of mouth. It’s interesting being in such a traditional part of the city while doing something so modern. The contrast is something we’ve grown to appreciate. It’s not a fancy tech park office with a gym and a cafeteria, but it has character. We just focus on the logic and the lines of code, and try to get things delivered on time despite the chaos outside. It isn't always easy, and the power flickers sometimes, but we just keep at it. Our neighbors are jewelers. We are geeks. We coexist just fine.
