Samanvai

Samanvai is located at 351 M I Road, which is one of the bigger streets in Jaipur. Because of our location, we see a lot of different people every day. Some are tourists just walking around looking at the buildings and others are locals who have been living here forever. We’ve been at this spot for a good while now. The shop is filled with various items and sometimes it looks a bit cluttered, but we know where everything is. It’s a lot of work keeping up with the inventory and making sure we don't run out of the popular items. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that, it’s just the shop floor and a small space in the back. The windows get dirty pretty fast because of the buses going by on M I Road, so we have to clean them every morning. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit there with the door open to get some light. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in the city, we just want to stay open and keep serving the people who come through. It’s a bit of a grind sometimes, especially when it’s raining and the water collects near the entrance. We just put out a mat and keep moving along. There is always something that needs to be sorted out or fixed around the shop.
