Ratan Masala Bhandar

Ratan Masala Bhandar is located at number 842 in Bagru Walon Ka Rasta. This is right in the heart of Chandpole Bazar. If you know the old city, you know how these lanes are. They are narrow, full of life, and always smell like something interesting. Our shop is one of many in this alleyway. We deal with spices all day long. The air inside our place is thick with the scent of chilies, turmeric, and coriander. It makes you sneeze sometimes if you aren't used to it. We have bags of whole spices piled up against the walls and small drawers for the ground versions. It’s a small space, so we have to use every inch of the walls for shelving. We don’t have a website or a big marketing team. Most people find us because they’ve been coming here for years or their parents told them about us. We sit on the floor or on small stools while we weigh things out for customers. The light in the rasta isn't always great, but we know where everything is by touch. It’s noisy outside with the rickshaws and people shouting, but inside we just focus on the scales. We close up when the sun goes down and the market starts to quiet down a bit. It’s a traditional way of doing business that hasn't changed much in decades. We just keep the routine going.
