Rajasthan Masala Store

Rajasthan Masala Store is right in the middle of Johari Bazar. If you go down Bhomiyon Ka Rasta to number 150, that's where we are located. It smells like spices the moment you get close to the door. We spend most of our mornings weighing out various powders and seeds into smaller bags. It is a bit cramped inside because we have so many big sacks of stuff stacked up against the walls. We deal with all the basic things people need for their kitchens every day. The floors get a bit dusty with turmeric and chili bits, but we try to sweep it out when we get a quiet moment. It’s a busy street, so there is always noise from the market outside leaking in. We don't have fancy displays or glass cabinets. People just come in, ask for what they need, and we scoop it out for them. Sometimes the supply of certain things is a bit low depending on the harvest season, so we have to tell people to wait a few days for the next delivery. We have been in this spot for a long time. It is a simple life, just measuring spices and talking to the regulars who have been coming here for years. You get used to the heat in the summer even without much air moving around. We just keep the doors open and keep working. It’s just us here, making sure the jars stay full for the next customer.
