Purnima Varmas Institute Of Designing

Purnima Varmas Institute Of Designing is located at D-26 on Shanti Path in the Raja Park area. It’s a place where we teach design, but it’s more like a workshop than a formal school. Purnima started this because she wanted a space where people could actually get their hands on fabrics and tools. The rooms are filled with sewing machines, cutting tables, and stacks of sketches. We don’t have fancy decorations on the walls, just a lot of work from our students. Raja Park is a great location because it’s full of shops and markets, which gives the students plenty of ideas. We have a small team here and we keep things pretty informal. Everyone knows everyone else, and the atmosphere is usually relaxed until a deadline gets close. Then it can get a bit hectic with everyone trying to finish their projects at once. We’ve been at this spot for quite a few years and it feels like home to us. We don’t do a lot of promotion. Usually, people find us through word of mouth or if they happen to live nearby. Our days are spent showing people how to sew, draw, and think about design in a practical way. It’s a busy life, but it’s good to be around people who are making things. We open in the morning and stay until the work is done.
