Ocean Jewelry & Handicraft

Our shop is No. 130 in Kishanpole Bazar, which is quite close to Ajmeri Gate. It is a very old part of the city. You can feel the history when you walk down the street. Ocean Jewelry & Handicraft is a small place, but we pack a lot into it. We have shelves full of small jewelry pieces and larger handicraft items. It’s a bit of a mix. Sometimes it’s hard to find a place to sit down because there is so much stock everywhere. We spend a lot of time sorting through beads and stones. It’s quiet work, mostly. The bazar outside is the opposite—loud and crowded all the time. We’ve been here for many years, so we know all the other shopkeepers nearby. We share tea in the afternoons. It’s a nice way to break up the day. We don't have a big corporate office or anything. This shop is where everything happens. My sister helps with the jewelry side of things while I handle the heavier handicrafts. We don't use any fancy sales tactics. If you like something, you buy it. If not, that’s fine too. We just keep doing what we do. The ceiling leaks a little when it rains hard, so we have to move the boxes around. It’s just one of those things you deal with when you have an old shop in a busy market like this one.
