Nirmala Gems

You can find Nirmala Gems at 503, Dhanraj Mahal, over on M.S.B. Ka Rasta in Johri Bazar. We are on the second cross, which can be a little tricky to find if you aren't familiar with the layout of Johri Bazar. The building, Dhanraj Mahal, is where we do all our work. Since we deal with gems, we have to be careful about security, but the atmosphere inside is actually pretty relaxed. It’s not a big, shiny showroom like you see in the malls. It’s more of a traditional workshop and office. We have small desks where we sit and look at stones for hours. The lighting is the most important thing for us, so we have lots of lamps everywhere. Johri Bazar is a historic place for jewelry and stones, and we’ve been here long enough to feel like we belong. Sometimes the hallway outside our door is a bit cluttered, and the elevator in the building can be temperamental. We usually just take the stairs. We aren't a massive company with hundreds of employees. It’s just a few of us who know our way around gems. We spend our days sorting, grading, and talking to people who come in looking for something specific. It’s a quiet, focused kind of work. We don't do much advertising; most people find us by word of mouth or by just knowing we’ve been here in Dhanraj Mahal for years.
