We are located right by Sanganeri Gate. If you are driving by, you will probably see the stacks of tires piled up outside. It is a messy job, honestly. Our hands are usually black from the rubber and the grease by noon. We deal with all sorts of tires for cars and bikes. People pull up when they have a puncture or when their treads have worn down to nothing. The traffic around the gate is always heavy, so there is a lot of honking while we are trying to change a wheel. We have some basic tools and a machine for the tougher jobs. It is not a shiny showroom. It is just a workspace with some spare parts and old rims lying around in the corners. Some days the sun beats down on the pavement and makes the rubber smell really strong. We just get on with it. We talk to the drivers while we work, mostly about the state of the roads or how long their new set will last. It is simple work but it keeps us busy from morning until the street lights come on. Sometimes we have to order specific sizes if we don't have them in the pile, but we usually have the common ones ready to go. It’s just a regular spot for people who need their wheels sorted out. We wipe the grime off our foreheads and move on to the next car waiting in line. That’s just the daily routine for us at the gate.
