I’m based out of Jaipur, over in the Janakpuri area near the 2nd Imli Phatak. If you know the city, you know that Imli Phatak is a landmark that everyone uses for directions. My workplace is close to the GPO, which makes handling mail and official stuff a lot easier. It’s a simple setup I have here. The walls are a plain color and I have a few sturdy tables where I keep my equipment and papers. Jaipur gets incredibly hot in the summer, so the fan is usually running at full speed from morning until we close up. I don’t have a fancy website or a marketing team. Most of my work comes from people in the local community who just know where to find me. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except for the sound of the trains passing by the crossing every now and then. I spend my time mostly on the computer or talking to people who drop by for advice or services. The floors are stone and they stay relatively cool, which is nice when the sun is beating down outside. I don’t believe in overcomplicating things. I just open the doors, do what needs to be done for the day, and then head home when it gets dark. It’s not about being the biggest business in Rajasthan, it’s just about being reliable in my own small corner of Janakpuri.
