Down in Johari Bazar, on the lane they call Gheewalon Ka Rasta, you’ll find Mohan Toys & Gift House at number 124. This part of the city is always narrow and packed with people, and our shop is tucked right into the thick of it. We have been selling toys and various gifts here for a long time. The shop is filled from floor to ceiling with boxes. Sometimes it feels like the toys are going to tumble down, but we know where everything is. Kids love coming in here because it’s a bit of a maze of colors. We have the usual stuff like board games, dolls, and plastic cars. It gets quite hot in the summer months because the breeze doesn't always reach down these lanes, but we keep the fans going. We aren't a big showroom with air conditioning; we are just a local shop in the old city. Most of our customers are families who have been shopping in Johari Bazar for generations. We talk to the other traders on the rasta and share tea in the afternoons. It is a simple routine. We open early, unpack whatever came in on the rickshaws, and help people find something for their children's birthdays. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but the toys are what people look at anyway. It’s a busy, cramped, and happy little place to work every day.
