About Mahesh Bura Udyog – Food & Beverages in Jaipur
People usually find us by the smell of sugar and the white dust on the floor. We have been here at Chandpole Bazar 170 for quite some time now. It’s a busy spot, especially in the mornings when the trucks arrive and we start unloading everything. The shop isn't fancy at all. There are piles of bags everywhere and the fan makes a bit of a rattling noise when it's on high speed. We spend most of the day weighing things out and talking to the regulars who come by. It gets really crowded during the festival seasons. Everyone wants their bura sugar then. Sometimes the traffic outside gets so loud we have to shout to hear each other. We don't have a big office or anything, just a small desk in the corner where the ledger stays. Most of the guys working here have been around for years, so we all know how things go. It’s hard work, lifting those heavy sacks and keeping the place somewhat tidy, but it's what we do. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but there never seems to be a good time to stop and do it. We just keep moving. If you walk down the lane past the temple, you’ll see our sign. It's a bit faded but it's still there. We just focus on getting the sugar ready and making sure the stuff is okay for the sweets people make at home.
