We sit here on Nahar Garh Road right in the middle of all the noise. Most days start around ten when the shutters go up and we see what the suppliers brought. It's crowded around Chandpole Bazar, you know how it is with the rickshaws and people pushing past. We have been in this spot for a while now. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint but we are too busy moving boxes to worry about that. My nephew helps out with the ledger while I talk to the people coming in. We sell a bit of everything that traders usually stock. Sometimes the light goes out in the afternoon and we just sit outside on the steps and wait. You meet all kinds of folks here. Some want to argue about prices for an hour over a few rupees and others just grab what they need and leave. It gets dusty because of the road work always happening nearby. We keep the fans running high during the summer months. It’s not a fancy office with air conditioning or soft chairs. Just a regular shop with wooden counters and shelves piled high. We know most of the other shopkeepers around here by name. We eat lunch from the tiffin service that comes around noon. It's a living and it keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down and the market finally gets a bit quiet.
