Jagdish Prasad Sharma & Co is situated at 145 in Kishanpole Bazar. If you have been to Jaipur, you know that Kishanpole is one of the main traditional markets and it has that old-world feel with the pink buildings and the busy traffic of two-wheelers and cycle rickshaws. Our place is an old-style shop and we have been in this location for quite a long time. The ceilings are high and the walls are thick, which helps a bit with the Rajasthan heat, but it still gets quite stuffy inside. We don't have fancy office furniture, just some old desks and chairs where we handle our daily business. The shop is filled with various items depending on what we are stocking at the time, and there isn't much of a system to how things are piled up. It is a very traditional way of working. We spend a lot of time talking to people who walk in from the bazaar, often over a cup of tea. There is no air conditioning, just a couple of old ceiling fans that hum all day long. Outside, the street is always noisy with the sounds of the market and people bargaining. It is a very basic operation and we prefer it that way. We have stayed at 145 because it’s where everyone knows to find us. It’s just a regular business in a very old street.
