You can find Girraj Prasad & Co. in the middle of Johari Bazar. If you know the old city, you know how crowded it gets. The streets are narrow and the buildings are all that old pink color. We’ve been in this spot for a long time, and the shop feels like it. The wooden counters are worn down from years of use. We open up early when the shutters on the other shops are still down. It’s the quietest time of the day. Once the sun is up, the bazar gets crazy. There are rickshaws and cows and people everywhere. We mostly deal with regular supplies and local customers. We don't use any fancy language or try to act like a big company. We are just a small local business. Sometimes the rain leaks in a little near the front door, and we just put a bucket there. It’s an old building, so it has its problems. We know the families around here and they know us. We don't spend any time on branding. Our name is on the board outside and that’s enough. We just sit on the cushions, do our work, and talk to whoever walks in. It’s a slow way of doing things compared to the new malls, but it’s how we’ve always done it in Johari Bazar.
