Jagannath Ramgopal

Our place, Jagannath Ramgopal, is tucked away in Johari Bazar, specifically at Gopal Ji Ka Rasta, house number 103. If you know Jaipur at all, you know that Johari Bazar is a maze of narrow lanes and old buildings. It’s a place with a lot of history and we are just one small part of it. We spend our days in the shop, which isn't very big but it’s full of character. The walls are old and the floors have seen a lot of footsteps over the years. We don’t go in for fancy branding or big signs. Most people find us because their fathers or grandfathers used to come here. It’s a very traditional way of working. We deal with whatever comes our way, whether it's a small request or something a bit more involved. The noise from the street outside is always there, horses, rickshaws, and people shouting. It becomes like background music after a while. We sit on the floor or on low stools and just get on with the day’s tasks. There’s no corporate ladder here, just us working in the same spot day after day. We like the rhythm of the bazaar. It’s a bit dusty and sometimes it’s too hot, but this is where we belong. We keep things straightforward and don't try to act like we're something we're not. It is just a small business in an old street.
