Out here in Khanpura Lawan, things move a bit slower than in the big cities. Our place, Invention, is situated right in this part of Dausa, and we’ve been operating from here for some time now. It’s not a huge factory or anything like that. It’s more of a workshop where we tinker with things and try to get orders out the door. The road outside is usually quiet except for the occasional tractor or a neighbor walking by. We do a lot of our work with manual tools, so you’ll often hear the sound of metal hitting metal or a drill running late into the evening. We don’t spend much on advertising because most people in Dausa know where we are if they need something made or fixed. The shop floor is usually covered in scrap bits and grease, but that’s where the actual work happens. We have a couple of old desks where we handle the paperwork, though the files are mostly piled up in no particular order. It’s a simple setup. When the power goes out, which happens sometimes, we just sit outside for a bit until it comes back. We don’t have any big corporate goals. We just want to finish the day’s tasks and make sure the items we build are solid enough to last. It’s a local business run by local people who understand how things work in this part of the country.
