Gauttama Ayurveda

Gauttama Ayurveda is tucked away in Chandra Kala Colony, which is over near Clark’S Amer Road in Durgapura. It’s a residential street, so it stays pretty quiet most of the time. We are at house number 24. We have a lot of jars and bottles sitting on the shelves and the whole place smells like dried leaves and herbs. It’s a smell you get used to after a while. We started this because we liked how the old ways of doing things still worked for people. It’s just a small space, nothing like those big pharmacies you see in the city. We spend a lot of time talking to people who walk in with different problems. Some people stay for a long time just to chat while we weigh out things on the scale. The floor is old tile and we have some wooden chairs for people to wait. We don't really have a big staff, just a couple of us who know about the plants. Sometimes we have to wait a few days for a specific root or powder to come in from the suppliers. Durgapura is a nice part of town and we like being here instead of a big mall. The gate out front is painted blue but it’s fading a bit now. We just open up in the morning and stay until the evening lights come on.
